Zen is a school of Buddhism which emphasises the practice of meditation as the key ingredient to awakening ones inner nature, compassion and wisdom.

Nowadays however, the term Zen is one mainly used to describe a feeling of peace, oneness, enlightenment and fulfillment.

Every week, we’ll explore a concept, quote or ideal that you can use to positively impact your life.

Money. It makes the world go around, or so the saying goes.

I’ve never been a believer in the idea that simply having more money makes you a happier person or leads to living a more fulfilled life.

That said, it is undoubtedly a major part of life and informs to a staggering degree the options and freedom a person has with how they can live their lives.

If you don’t earn enough, or spend the money you earn wisely, you can easily fall into the trap of living paycheck to paycheck and not have any other choice but to show up day after day, year after year to your work.

Before you know it, your life may well have just passed by right before your eyes.

For how important a role money plays in our everyday lives, there is frankly a shocking lack of financial education and understanding among the general population.

In the UK, 39% of adults (20.3 million) don’t feel confident managing their money and 11.5 million have less than £100 in savings (http://www.fincap.org.uk/en/articles/key-statistics-on-uk-financial-capability).

Even i myself, a qualified Accountant who works with numbers and money everyday for a living, have fallen into some pitfalls in life when it comes to my own personal finances due to a lack of truly understanding how money works.

Financial education just doesn’t get taught well enough by any of the educational bodies that we have. Instead of knowing how money works upfront, you have through painful mistakes and stupid decisions.

The results depressing as they are obvious.

Stress. Worry. Anxiety. Dissatisfaction.

What if our relationship with money could be more informed, more intentional, more Zen?

That would set up a person to live a life truly of their own design.

Every week we’ll discuss key financial literacy topics relating such as managing money, saving & investing, debt management, common pitfalls, retirement planning and more to help educate people on how to take control of their finances to improve their quality of life and become financially free.

Calligraphy quotes

Money should be viewed as a tool to enable you to life the life you want to live, not as something to have an obsession with either earning or spending.

How you approach money and how you approach living day to day have a notable impact on the level of success you achieve in your life.

Achieving true financial security requires cultivating a holistic perspective.

Simplicity, consciousness, mindfulness are the keys to unlocking both true financial well-being and a life you can be wholly content with living.

Every week, we’ll discuss how through embracing these concepts, adopting a growth mindset and living with intention, you can become more productive, more financially secure and the best version of yourself.

Put simply, your financial situation, wealth and quality of life will improve and grow when you improve and grow as a person.

I’m glad to have you along for this journey.

See you next week,

Zain
